Departamentos en Maitencillo

We headed north Sunday morning from Concon and immediately we were in the country.

This was our first view of Maitencillo.

It’s a resort town that wraps around a small bay with hills to the north and south and a valley river that runs into the bay. I didn’t get any stills of the town or river, but we’re going to head back on the weekend to check it out again.

Once we got through town and up the hill a bit we stopped at a condo complex but were told to come back in 15 minutes when the agent would be back. So we crossed the street to check out the development that ran up the hill. It’s the neighborhood in the picture above

We talked to the agent and he basically explained this is a summer home resort and that maybe 2 families live there year round. It kind of reminded me of Bear lake but on the Pacific and very swanky. This road takes you to the highest point you can see in the picture.

View from the top.

We weren't going to go back to the first resort but changed our mind.

After we did the tour we asked the girl if there were any hotels in the area. There wasn't but she did have a condo that they let perspective clients use. Very nice. Both places were on the North side of the bay looking south.

The condo didn't have any sheets for one of the beds so we went to her apartment that was on the south side of the bay looking back at the complexes we explored/were staying at.

This pic is off her back yard.

Town

Monday morning.

They have this cool tram system that runs on rails and pulleys. You can see the tram to the right. At the base of the tram on the beach you can there is a Catholic church.

Northern neighbor condos

I'll hold on the commentary for this one.

From Viña del Mar to Concon

The drive from Viña to Concon is about 15 minutes.
Concon is a cool little town with a marina, surf schools, good sea food and grocery stores. If you can't find it here Viña is super close and they have it all. It's also close to really good schools and they are more use to foreigners. As I write this I'm in San Fernando were I feel we stand out like Shaq would at a midget convention (not that there's anything wrong with that)

The 3 photos below are from the drive.

Rolling into northern Concon. It's pretty much country roads north of this point until Maitencillo.

We also checked out the local boys school that's inland Concon.

It's somewhere in this neighborhood that's right on the edge of a forest.

This inland neighborhood is way expensive even by US standars. I'm finding out that the cost of nearly everything is comprable to UT, but on the beach.
I really liked Concon despite the dogs.... they're everywhere.
Next post will be Maitencillo. I was blown away by the place. I didn't want to leave.

Lo siento, hablas espanol es muy mal.

Chile

After 2 hours of sleep on the plane to Santiago I woke to what I hoped was an omen. I guess it goes without saying that pictures don't do justice to the real thing. Keep that in mind when browsing the photo's. The dirt is dirty than it looks and the pretty is far more beautiful than I can express.

So we landed in Santiago at 7:30 and headed west to Viña del mar where we explored for the afternoon, crashed out then hit the road hard the next day up to Maintencillo where we had no internet access. Today we went north from Maintencillo to Zapillar then inland to route 5, south toward Santiago. I'm currently sitting at a Copec gas station in Llay. I don't have a lot of time so I'm just going to post what pictures I can with a caption here and there.

The farther north we got the better it got, but I'm out of time. We have to get past Santiago on route 5 before rush hour starts.
